Icy water courses down the blade of steel The world disappears only to be replaced by a new reality of dismembered emotion A shadow's chill becomes the warmth of my heart whose only beat is unfulfilled longing Icy water flows along the honed edge as my mind treads the thread of sanity's boundary The sound of my cry is silence it's straining effort not acknowledged by the one who causes it unknowingly Icy water runs down the blade's arc as clouds of melancholy close in to surround pierced only by the gleam of the blade twisting under the frigid stream that flows on as unrequited love |
