The Night is victorious on the Earth's shortest day As dark Set has conquered and shut the Light away, Yet he knows not the strength of whom he shut in the Earth as the Light grows and swells in anticipation of birth. As Amaterasu from the dark stony tomb; As the baby Jesus from Mary's womb; As Adonis, Dionysus, Osiris, Mithras speak of birth, speak of death then resurrection at last. These burst forth from darkness to bathe us in Light, to banish all fear, to drive away Night. We greet the new Sun and celebrate as we might, united in joy at the coming of Light. |
